Africa-Press – Seychelles. The French School of Seychelles is officially a Generation 2024 labeled establishment. The plaque was unveiled yesterday by the Ambassador of France to Seychelles Olivia Berkeley-Christmann and the Minister of Education Dr Justin Valentin at the school on the occasion of the Olympic and Paralympic day which takes place on June 23.

The headteacher, Christophe Consigny explained that the “Generation 2024” label for schools and educational establishments aims to develop bridges between the school world and the sports movement to encourage physical and sports practice among young people.

The objectives of the “Generation 2024” label are: To develop structuring projects with the sports clubs of the territory; Participate in Olympic and Paralympic promotional events; Accompaniment or reception of high-level athletes and Opening the sports facilities of the establishments.

Upon her arrival at the school grounds, Ambassador Berkeley-Christmann was accompanied by two Phryges. Minister Dr Valentin also joined the small ceremony and the children were all excited and applauding the guests.

Minister Dr. Valentin congratulated the children, teachers and parents for encouraging sports activities in Seychelles. “I would like to invite children and young people to meditate on the theme of having a sportsmanship. It is obviously a question of having a fighting spirit, a spirit of sharing, a spirit of tolerance and peace while taking into account this will to win. We can use this Olympic spirit to promote many good virtues,” the Minister said.

He also shared the aspiration of the President of the Republic Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan to see one of the Seychellois bring back an Olympic medal – gold, silver or bronze. “It’s up to you to dream and set yourself that goal. I would like to mention that a group of students from this school will go to Paris next year and I wish you a good period of preparation”.

The Ambassador of France spoke a little about the history of the Olympic Games and noted that “this day allows everyone to learn about the practice of Olympic sports in the presence of athletes, in the sharing and values ​​of the ‘Olympism. This label was awarded by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) to the EFS and you fully deserve it. You have done many projects in different fields including the environment, culture and sport . Congratulations to all who contributed to make this possible. We are proud as the France team to carry out actions that will lead us to the Paris 2024 Games. Long live the values ​​of Olympism, long live France and long live the French School of the Seychelles”.

To date, the total number of labels including the Seychelles is 5,015 (10.2%) representing more than 1,850,000 million students: 2,902 schools (8%), 1,509 colleges (21.2%) and 604 high schools (12.1%).

The small ceremony was attended by the supervisors, the members of the school management committee, the head of the National Sports Council Mr. Marc Arrisol, the students of the Mont Fleuri school as well as some parents. During the day, the different classes had sport on the program.
