Africa-Press – Seychelles. “Independence represented the birth of Seychelles as a sovereign nation”

“On the occasion of the 47th anniversary of independence, the Seychelles Democratic Union Party (LDS) congratulates all of Seychelles for what we have achieved together as a nation.

“Independence represented the birth of Seychelles as a sovereign nation.

“Like a young adult who has just gained his freedom, even when we have made certain successes, we have also made several bad starts in our lives.

“Today, with a new government that has been leading Seychelles since October 2020, we have a new opportunity to start again – to avoid past mistakes and build on the good elements that have been instilled in us as a small Creole nation.

“Even when it is not easy to accomplish everything, LDS as a party in government we remain determined to lead Seychelles in a new era where we become a working nation, one that obeys the law, that is proud of its culture and its identity and that believes in the the principle of democracy.

“There is still a lot to do, but with 3 years ahead of us before we celebrate our 50th anniversary of independence, we deserve to use this moment where the whole of Seychellois is right to do a self-examination of what it deserves to do as a responsible Seychellois for improvement his personal life, his family situation, participate in his community and help his country better.

“All of us have a duty and responsibility to be more sensitive to what is happening around us as Article 40 of our Constitution asks us to.

“In LDS, we believe in the Spanishization of Seychelles through our 2020 election slogan, which said ‘Seysel Pour Tou Son Zanfan.’ It is a principle that we still firmly believe in. Now it’s all about the children of Seychelles to realize what they can do for their country.

“This day on June 29 is a time for us to reflect together on the best way to help our Seychelles and whether it is a better place that we came to join it.

“We pray that God will always keep us united as a nation that remains in one of the most beautiful countries.

“Happy Independence Day to all Seychellois.”
