Africa-Press – Seychelles. Good news for the Seychelles! Fania Athanase, a young girl from Praslin, is chosen to represent Seychelles for the upcoming Miss World Tourism 2023 beauty pageant in Sri Lanka.
It was Joëlle Fabre, president of Miss Ile de Palme who announced this news to us. “Since I’ve been in the press and ads on my Facebook page, everyone I know has seen that I’m back in the fashion business. People are starting to contact me for beauty pageants and that’s when I learned about Miss World Tourism 2023 in Sri Lanka. Our contestants are very young and I only have three girls who met all the criteria. I sent the portfolios of the candidates and it was the organizing committee in Sri Lanka that chose the candidate from Seychelles,” Ms. Fabre explained.
Fania Athanase, who is also a candidate for the next Miss Ile de Palme beauty pageant, already works in tourism at CreoleTravel Services and her company was happy to sponsor her. After finishing school, Fania started working in tourism and travels to Curieuse and La Digue with tourists.
To support her, Olivia from Olyswim will do her make-up, the bikinis are offered by Alyssa Adams and the earrings by Seyramic. “Fania and I are leaving for the competition on Thursday and we wish her good luck,” said Ms. Fabre.
It was not until early July that Sri Lanka’s Minister of State for Tourism, Diana Gamage, said in Colombo that Miss World Tourism 2023, would take place in Sri Lanka from July 20-30 and would bring together participants from 40 country, some of whom know little about the country.“These countries will send their most exquisite representatives to compete for the coveted crown in the competition. The Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Promotion Bureau are working hand in hand for this historic 11-day adventure to make it an awe-inspiring spectacle for visitors. All who come are global travel influencers, the new key players in tourism promotion. Sri Lanka will stand to benefit greatly from the engaging content they create to showcase our destination among their fans,” she said.
Participants must pay for their own airfare, however the Sri Lankan government will provide star class accommodation, Sri Lankan gastronomic delights and all necessary sightseeing and other facilities free of charge.
