PUC said power outage From Eden Island to Providence was due to electrical fault

Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) has said that the power outage from Eden Island to part of Providence areas on Thursday, was due to an electrical fault (flashover) on a medium voltage switch at its substation close to the Pilgrims Security Building.

In a press release issued yesterday, PUC explained that at around 10.20pm on Thursday, July 20, 2023, the feeder providing supply to parts of Eden Island, Providence Industrial Estate, Les Mamelles, and Roche Caiman areas, as well as between Brilliant and Cascade, tripped, interrupting electricity supply to the consumers in those regions.

According to the statement, the PUC teams were immediately dispatched to investigate the cause and to restore power to the affected areas.

“By 1:40am on Friday, July 21, 2023, supply had been restored at all affected areas except for part of Providence Industrial Estate, in the vicinity of Pilgrims Security Building,” wrote the press release.

PUC was expected to have concluded the repairs by late yesterday afternoon.

The company has thanked its customers who were affected by the outage, for their patience and understanding.
