Africa-Press – Seychelles. Emirates has appointed Kenny Agricole as cargo manager for Seychelles to oversee the business’ commercial and operational aspects in the Seychelles market.

The Seychelles national will be responsible for supporting Emirates SkyCargo’s commercial objectives, overseeing its operations across the island as well as maintaining crucial relations with various industry stakeholders.

Mr Agricole joined Emirates 12 years ago, eight years of which were spent in the role as cargo officer, where he gained a wealth of experience with the airline, its cargo services and in the industry.

Congratulating Kenny Agricole on his new appointment, Oomar Ramtoola, Emirates’ manager for Indian Ocean Islands, said, “Recognising local talent is important to us and we are pleased to see yet another skilled and dynamic Seychellois being recognised for his skills and commitment to the airline. I wholeheartedly wish him success in his new role and we are committed to extending our continued support.”

He added, “We at Emirates are pleased to have been actively involved in Seychelles’ development. Emirates has supported the nation’s economy by promoting inbound tourism, facilitating trade though exports and imports and supporting local business and suppliers, leading to the generation of revenue across a range of industries. Our contributions extend to supporting the government in achieving its employment and human resource development objectives and fostering the integration of Seychellois talent in its skilled workforce. This new appointment is an example of the career opportunities our business has created for the country’s nationals.”

Emirates operates in line with the national policies of the countries it operates in, contributing to the socio-economic prosperity of its communities, and supporting the career development of local talent.

Emirates’ team in Seychelles consists of 22 staff members, all of which are Seychellois, with several in key management positions. The airline’s country manager, Denise Prea, and Mike Bathilde, airport services manager, have both been employed by Emirates for 18 years. Its finance and administration manager, Lisa Chetty, is also a national employed by Emirates for the past 16 years. The team supports the airlines’ commercial activities as well its double-daily passenger and cargo operations between Seychelles and Dubai.

Currently over 50 Seychellois nationals are employed with the Emirates Group, half of whom have been employed long-term for more than a decade, in Seychelles and at its Dubai headquarters.

Emirates started its operations to Seychelles with four weekly flights in 2005 and today operates two daily flights between Mahé and its Dubai hub, with its widebody Boeing 777 aircraft.
