Africa-Press – Seychelles. ‘Lar Autizm Sesel’ is a new association created to discover, regroup and promote artists living with autism in the country.
This association, with its motto ‘Our way of doing it’, was launched on Saturday morning in a small ceremony at the Carrefour Des Arts gallery, the National Library of Anvil.
There are five members on the committee and the chairman is Robert Alexis, the vice chairman is Roland Duval, the treasurer is Andre Sinon, the secretary is Loura Barra and Benjamin Vel is an ordinary member.
The association’s program will not only revolve around painting, but in all forms of art that will include music, theater, dance, photography, poetry, and even graphics, among other art methods that children living with autism are capable of. and can demonstrate their talent in it.
According to Mr. Alexis, there are many children living with autism in the country and even if they are different in their development, especially in terms of the ability to express themselves through words, this does not mean that they cannot have the same meaning and opportunity to develop they are talented like others.
He pointed out that they created this artistic association because it is one of the therapies used with children with autism.
“These children have extraordinary abilities and a lot of talent and we want them to be recognized and respected for that. As we know that art is a therapy and it also helps in all aspects of mental development, so we want these children, through art, to be able to express their bodies,” said Mr. Alexis.
He pointed out that they used the motto ‘Our way of doing things’, because the way these children with autism work is really unique and intelligent.
He added that their association will work in close collaboration with other institutions and associations that also work with children living with autism, with the aim of bringing more support for these children.
Mr. Alexis also appealed to the parents of children who are living with autism to come forward and help promote the talent that their children have and that may even benefit them one day.
Saturday’s ceremony included poems and hymns and ended with a work exhibition
There are children who live with autism from the Exceptional School and an artist who lives with autism, Patrick Alexis, who is Mr. Alexis’ cousin.One of the guests, Yakub Chaka, who is a supporter and collector of art works, said that he really appreciates that such an association to support artists with autism has been formed, but others who are interested in these people need to meet and work together. to bring more support and benefits to artists with autism.
Autism Seychelles also intends to launch its activities on Praslin and La Digue.
