Africa-Press – Seychelles. No medals for Team Seychelles on the first day of competition
Yesterday was the first day of judo competition counting for the IX Games of La Francophonie, and Team Seychelles, which was represented by two judokas, did not win any medals.
Rovernie Pillay competed in the 66 kilo category, while Rahile Marie fought in the 60 kilo group.
Everything started well for Pillay who won his first fight on the green carpet, after the absence of his opponent Raimundo Castano Pino from Equatorial Guinea.
However, the Praslinois judoka lost his second fight against a more experienced Julien Frascadore from Canada.
After qualifying for the repechage, Pillay won his first fight against Khamis Khalid of the United Arab Emirates, before losing to Andre HaItoua of the Republic of Congo to leave the competition.
As for Rahile Marie, he did not make any victory yesterday in the category of 60 kilos.
After losing his first bout to Amaid Kouantchous of Cameroon, Marie qualified for the repechage where he lost by ippon to Michael Gangaya of Mauritius.
Today, during the second day of competition, only Keith Larue will be in action in the 73 kg category.
