Africa-Press – Seychelles. On the sidelines of the IX Games of La Francophonie, the conference debate was also held on the state of implementation of the recommendations of the Cotonou Declaration on the revival of Physical Education and Sports in the various levels of education in the Congo River Hotel.
It was the Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports of the Francophonie (CONFEJES) and the Conference of Ministers of Education of the States and Governments of the Francophonie (CONFEMEN) which organized this conference.
It was Beguita Jeannevol, representative of the Seychellois Government and Ms. Miera Savy, secretary general of the National Commission of La Francophonie, responsible for the national file of la Francophonie and vice-president of the orientation council of the international committee of the Games of La Francophonie who attended this meeting.
Madame Jeannevol pointed out that the Seychelles Ministry of Sports has signed a memorandum with the Ministry of Education to better assist them with the teaching of physical education in schools. “We also organize training camps for teachers and during the holidays recently the rugby association did an introduction to teaching rugby in schools. Also in order to revise our sports policy, we are currently engaging students and teachers to get their opinions on these subjects,” said Jeannevol.
During this conference, the other countries present presented a report on the activities and projects they are undertaking in their schools.
The Seychelles took the opportunity to make a request to CONFEJES for sports equipment for schools, which was accepted.
