Wanted for two and a half years for heroin trafficking: a Seychellois with multiple identities unmasked

Africa-Press – Seychelles. In January 2021, he had managed to evade the anti-drug squad by swimming away after a sale of heroin worth 11 million Mauritian rupees. Since then, this Seychellois has been hiding behind false identities. He remained untraceable until his arrest in a robbery case by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Stanley, Mauritius.

A hundred days for the thief, one day for the master, says the proverb. It is not Jason P., of his real name, who will say the opposite. This Seychellois national with multiple identities, who is under arrest, must be biting his fingers.

He had been wanted by all units of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) since January 7, 2021. That day, in Grand-Baie, Mauritius, Jason P., a Seychellois boat captain, had carried out a transaction for 750 grams of heroin worth 11 million Mauritian rupees (…..) with police officers posing as drug traffickers. But when these Adsu agents from the Eastern Division wanted to arrest him, the dealer managed to swim away by sea before disappearing. Despite searches by the National Coast Guard, it has not been found. Since then, no one knew where Jason P was hiding. Adsu’s investigation was deadlocked.

But this investigation has just experienced a major twist. This follows the arrest of a suspect of Seychellois origin, believed to be Jason P. but calling himself Luvano Lucas Wilson and Ronnie Jean, by Stanley’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID), in conjunction with the Western Crime Intelligence Unit.On July 26, a warehouse located rue La Reine in Rose-Hill was robbed. Electronic devices and mobile phone accessories worth around 1 million Mauritian rupees are taken away. As part of its field investigation, the Western Criminal Police, supervised by Superintendent Seebaluck, Inspector Veerasamy and Sergeant L’Aiguille, carried out a search of an apartment on Avenue Maurice-Curé in Rose-Hill.

When police arrived, the suspect fled. However, his apartment is a veritable Ali Baba’s cave. The material stolen from the warehouse is found. Present in the apartment at the time of the police raid, the suspect’s concubine, a 26-year-old Malagasy national, is with her one-year-old infant. The child is registered in the name of the mother at the Rose-Hill civil status office. The investigators realize that the young woman is in an irregular situation in Mauritius, her visa having expired on July 27, 2022. She is arrested and charged with concealment.

During her interrogation, she denies any involvement in the theft and claims that it was her husband, Luvano Lucas Wilson, who brought these items to their apartment for the purpose of reselling them. The mother being arrested, the infant is cared for by the Child Development Unit. The same evening, information reached the investigators that Luvano Lucas Wilson was on rue La Reine in Rose-Hill. At the indicated place, the police actually find the suspect, injured. However, he says his name is Ronnie Jean. This is the beginning of a puzzle to determine the true identity of this man.

Investigators demand identity documents from him. Luvano Lucas Wilson/Ronnie Jean says he’s misplaced everything. The Stanley CID then turns to the immigration office. The Passport and Immigration Office (PIO) says the names Luvano Lucas Wilson and Ronnie Jean are not in their database.

In the meantime, the suspect is transferred to Victoria Hospital in Candos, where he is still admitted. The police visit him and confront him with data from the PIO confirming that the two identities are non-existent. The man presents himself this time under another name: “Pitit”. The enigma remains whole for the investigators who turn again to the office of immigration. The link is then made with a man named Jason P, actively sought by the anti-drug squad since January 7, 2021. The Adsu team led by Chief Inspector Mossun is immediately informed.Adsu investigators have already conducted a first interrogation of the suspect at the hospital. Once his discharge has been obtained, he will be heard for longer on the heroin trafficking case in order to confirm that he is indeed the fugitive who had taken off in 2021. Interpol’s assistance has also been requested.
