Africa-Press – Seychelles. As part of the ongoing ‘Integration of Youth with the elderly’ programme initiated by Lions International, the Lions of Seychelles recently invited a group of students from the Pointe Larue secondary school to the La Retraite home for the elderly, where they were able to spend time with residents.

The students aided the elderly with their house work as well as cleaned the compound.

They were also able to engage and interact with the residents over lunch catered by the Lions of Seychelles, bringing together younger and older generations for a common purpose.

The programme also included a donation of olive jars, which will benefit all nine homes for the elderly across Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.

The donations were received by the director of Homes, Liza Cadeau and the Home administrator, Lindy Roucou, as well as residents of the La Retraite Home for the Elderly.

The President of Seychelles Centennial Women Lions Club, Doris Belle, expressed her excitement for being able to organise such an activity and having the chance to give back to the community by promoting healthy ageing.

Lions of Seychelles were represented by the club’s president, Vijay Pandya, and zone chair of Seychelles Lions, Dhana Sasikumar, among other members.
