Africa-Press – Seychelles. Let’s continue to maintain and ensure the continuity of transmission, preservation and promotion of our culture”
“Today, October 28, 2023, Seychelles and other Creole-speaking countries are once again celebrating the International Day of Creole Language and Culture. This day means an opportunity for us to discover or rediscover our linguistic, cultural, literary, musical heritage, and savor our creole through a series of cultural activities that illustrate a Russian heritage.
“This moment makes us celebrate Seyselwa, which is constantly singing the chorus ‘Creole season in reflection’ and dancing to the hour ‘otile lae lae’, school and tempo vibration of the mutia drum, Mauritians who make us discover and savor its place Bol reverses ‘the Magic’ Bol’, the Cape Verdean who takes back the refrain of Ceseria and dances his coladeira, Reunited with his Maloya, here on our Creole land. They all have a common point, the Creole language and culture that they all share. It is the diversity that we are celebrating, the intersection of cultures, the forms that encounters and interactions take, the inexhaustible cultural wealth.
“This location also allows us to dedicate a day, a week, a month to institute a lot of reflection through awareness workshops and other initiatives to promote our Seychellois language and culture.
“Don’t let us forget that historically and culturally this celebration was born because there was an urgent need, this need to recognize the language struggle and the identity of the Creole people. This day of celebration is the fruit of several years of perseverance, for a recognition of the Creole language up to the official level.
“Culture is a means of gathering. It is synonymous with ‘living well together’ for a better development of society. Through ‘Batenm Poupet’, ‘Tifin’, retellings and recitals, let our elders transmit their knowledge, knowledge, know-how, traditions, customs… to our young people. This will allow them to discover the past world and its environment, all lifestyles, values, beliefs, our concerns, a shared culture.
“At the music stadium and in every corner of the east of the artists, the Seychelles center transmits our Creole language and our Seychellois culture in their art, melodies, paintings… exciting paintings.
“Despite this turbulent ocean, let’s continue to maintain and ensure the continuity of transmission, preservation and promotion of our culture, everything that encompasses the very broad aspects of our society’s life; our language, customs, morals, way of life, value systems, beliefs, religious rites, family and community organization, clothing, etc.
“On October 28, 2023, we will place our Seychellois social and cultural values and Creole identity at the center of our celebration and development. Let’s revive the love, friendship, trust, courage, family, respect, solidarity, partnership, work, tolerance. Let’s let it be a source of inspiration every day.
“I take advantage of this opportunity to thank all the militants, creolists, linguists, sercers, teachers, professors, for this noble status and continue it; defense and promotion of our Seychellois language and culture.
