Africa-Press – Seychelles. This year, a couple from South Africa, François Du Plessis and Laetitia Borsch, were honored to celebrate their traditional Seychellois wedding at the 38th Creole Festival.

This couple, who are anthropologists by profession, are here to do their research work, and it was during conversations with other local colleagues that they learned about this traditional marriage.

On Sunday, they received a blessing for their wedding with the Reverend Anse Royale Anglican Church, Christine Benoit, before heading to Au Cap at the restaurant ‘Vye Marmit’, Domaine de Val des Près for this celebration from the 3rd afternoon until midnight, in the company of more than 80 guest

Similarly, in Tifin, the Seyselian guests took on the role of new parents and newlyweds, and at the serenade from Maison Marengo to Vye Marmit, they cheered the couple who were about to enter.

And there is everything to do with the performance of a traditional wedding, from the speech, romance, food, drinks and of course the traditional part.

The couple learned about Tifin’s celebration through Dr. Penda Choppy, with whom they are doing some research work, but they say that all the details have been kept secret. They described the wedding celebration as “unbelievable” and an experience that made them very happy and one that they deeply appreciated.

In an interview with the Seychelles NATION newspaper, they say that Seychelles is very friendly and welcoming.

“We feel special and the guests of this ceremony made us feel like we are part of a big family. Every part of the ceremony was magical, from the confetti in the church, to the serenades, and even the speeches,” Coup du Plessis said.

A special mention goes to the message you received with reverence, the good Creole dishes that you tasted and of course the fennel.

“These old women beat these young people by dancing,” they added.

It is the entire organization team under the guidance of Jessie Freminot and Samina Morel who put this event together, and according to Ms. Morel, everything went according to plan, in a good atmosphere. They also appreciate the number of guests who are present for the Tifin ceremony.

After this success, the appointment is next year for another couple to experience this long-term way and make sure it stays alive.
