Africa-Press – Seychelles. cTwo days before the Christmas holiday, finally, our team which toured the city of Victoria was able to see a bit of atmosphere in the Lari Bazar. The streets were crowded with children, young people, adults, and some were just taking a short stroll while others were shopping.

The vendors were very busy and Christmas decorations were selling for as little as ten rupees. Perfumes and other gift sets, sold for less than 100 rupees, were sold out, and the hunt for gifts was felt. Some stores offered promotions of 10%, 20%, 25%, 50%, and even 75%. The Seychellois still benefited, because this same store made quite a few sales.

On the other hand, renowned musicians such as Philip Toussaint and Joseph Autre were selling their albums. Mr. Toussaint told us that this year’s sale is satisfactory, and he believes that the population has other priorities at the moment.

The streets of Victoria, once uncrowded, have become a favorite gathering place for locals and visitors. Cafes, restaurants and shops are trying to be open later to accommodate shoppers.

Ms Christine Reginald took a stand selling locally made products such as canvas pouches with Seychelles written on them. She is very satisfied with the sale.

Cecilia from ‘Dave and Cecilia Florist’ is as usual still present inside the bazaar. “Every Christmas and New Year, people come to buy local flowers or even plastic ones. We also have a lot of orders and we will try to make everyone happy with their orders,” said Cecilia.

Yes, we have experienced intense tragic moments since December 6. Many families still cannot return home during this holiday season. Families and children have been placed in centers, and this holiday season will not be the same for them. This festive season, we are thinking of all those affected by the two disasters and we wish them courage.

Today the town hall has planned a bazaar and in the evening there is planning to have a parade.

The Seychelles NATION team also takes this opportunity to wish all our readers a Merry Christmas. Be careful on the road, secure your home and choose another driver if you’ve decided to have a few drinks!
