Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Electoral Commission has said it has commenced necessary procedures to cancel the registration of Independent Conservative Union of Seychelles (ICUS).
The party was registered in 2015.
However, due to continuous failure to comply with the provisions of the Political Parties Act, the commission gave its approval to cancel the registration of ICUS due to non-compliance to section 9(1)(d)(e) of the Act and the commission is satisfied that the party has ceased to exist.
Pursuant to section 25(1) of the same Act, the commission has appointed a liquidator in which shall vest the assets of the party.
The commission once more calls for compliance, with the Act governing political parties.
At present there are seven registered political parties.
