Africa-Press – Seychelles. For the third consecutive year, the Department of Tourism has decided to reward professionals in this sector.
More than 131 companies, which work in the tourism industry, the first pillar of the Seychelles economy, participated in this national effort through the Hospitality program.
On Saturday evening, nearly sixty prizes were awarded to the winner.
Among all the prizes, Colin Constance, director of Kokosye received the special prize from the minister.
It was the President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan who presented him with his trophy.
Constance is thus rewarded for the efforts made to promote Creole culture in La Digue. Tourists can learn to cook and make traditional objects.
“I didn’t expect it at all, but it shows that the efforts I made to promote cultural activities in La Digue are rewarded” said Colin Constance
For the Restaurant section, it was the Delplache restaurant that won the title of best restaurant for the first time.
The restaurant is located in Port Glaud, west of Mahe in an idyllic setting, with refined dishes using local products.
As for the La Cigale hotel, the tourist establishment receives the award for the best small tourist establishment for the second consecutive year.
“What we offer is the authenticity of Creole culture, and everything we do is related to Creoleness, and the most important thing is that the majority of people who work for La Cigale are Seychellois” said the director of La Cigale Maxime Rachel.
For us, it was one of our priorities to win this award, because it is a double celebration since this year we are also celebrating 10 years since the creation of the restaurant” said Debra Laporte, manager of the Delplace restaurant.
