Africa-Press – Seychelles. Fire yesterday afternoon destroyed a five-room house Dame Le Roi, Baie Lazare.
According to the Anse Royale Fire and Rescue Services Agency, it was Victoria station that alerted them to the incident around 2.23.
In a telephone conversation with Seychelles NATION, the officer in charge of the operation, Andrew Renaud, said they deployed two trucks and six officers. It took them about fifteen minutes to reach the site via Les Canelles.
“When we arrived the house was on fire and the fire was intense. After observation we started the initial attack to prevent it from spreading and affecting other properties in the vicinity,” Mr. Renaud said. The attempt to control the fire lasted at least 45 minutes, he said.
“It took us a while because we had to control a gas leak that was in the house.”
There were four people living in the house including three adults and a 13-year-old boy, but no one was there at the time of the incident.
