Air Seychelles awarded long-term contract with USA-based non-profit organisation

Africa-Press – Seychelles. Air Seychelles yesterday announced they have successfully been awarded a long-term contract with a United States based non-profit organisation, which is still under discussion.

The contract will see one of Air Seychelles’ A320neo aircraft, and associated crew based in Dubai for a period of three months. The flights will be carrying humanitarian cargo to Kabul and Islamabad and passengers from those cities to Qatar and Europe, before eventual resettlement in America.

Air Seychelles is continually finding ways to optimise revenue opportunities, and an operation like this, which guarantees a significant amount of revenue to the company, helps mitigate the challenging operating environment the carrier faces as oil prices continue to rise, and the risk of Covid-related variants remain a possibility.

Air Seychelles said this contract represents an essential win for the airline, at a time when it is much needed. As part of the airline’s due diligence, five members of the senior management team, including the acting chief executive …Benoiton travelled to Kabul recently to ensure the safety and security standards meet all operational requirements. Following the visit, an extensive safety and security risk assessment was conducted, including consultations with external aviation experts to ensure all aspects of safety and security for this operation were closely studied and contingencies implemented.

In addition, the flights to Kabul will be initially conducted by management pilots, in the presence of the acting chief executive, and other crew members who choose to volunteer for this contract. Reaffirming our constant commitment to safety and security, continual assessments will be conducted throughout the contract to ensure compliance and comfort for all stakeholders.

During the last two years of the Covid pandemic, Air Seychelles has carved out a unique niche in charter operations, operating to over 50 cities in four continents. The carrier will continue to seek more charters and contracts like this in the future to ensure a sustainable future while gradually growing back the existing regional flying network.
