Africa-Press – Seychelles. A section of Mont Fleuri road will be closed today and Thursday
Police are informing the public that a stretch of road in Mont Fleuri will be closed today, Tuesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 8:30 am until late at night.
The stretch of road that will be closed is from the Mont Fleuri junction (opposite the Weeling shop) to the Seychelles Hospital intersection.
This stretch of road will be closed for the next two days due to the nomination procedure for presidential candidates (today) and National Assembly candidates (Thursday) which will be held at the Election Commission Office.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes through Bois de Rose to reach their destination.
Police have made additional provision for public buses. Buses from Mont Fleuri to the city will be able to drop off passengers in the layby next to the French School. Passengers heading to the Hospital can use Danielle De St Jorre Road, next to the French School, which goes up to the Botanical Building, Mont Fleuri.
There will be officers at the Le Chantier junction leading to Mont Fleuri and at the intersection of Bel Eau and Seychelles Hospital to control traffic
Parking for Presidential candidates will be located inside the Ministry of Education.
Police are launching an appeal to all political parties and their supporters who are expected to be present that there will be a specific place that has been designated where supporters can gather.
Police are asking everyone to maintain good behavior and respect others, avoid provoking each other that can cause acts of violence.
It is important to note that the consumption of alcohol in public places is an offense and will not be tolerated.
Police are asking for the cooperation of all motorists, supporters and political parties to ensure that the nomination procedure of candidates takes place in peace and order.
