Employees of Doubletree Allamanda Hotel recently handed a sum of R5,000 to the Women in Action and Solidarity to help in the association’s different projects to equip women with skills so they can develop their talents in handicraft and pastry-making to improve their livelihood and be independent.
The contribution from the employees was an initiative of some women as a gesture to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Doreen Valentin, the hotel’s manager handed over the cheque to the chairperson of the Women in Action and Solidarity (Waso) Rosemary Elizabeth in the presence of other members of the association.
“On behalf of Waso, I wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to you and all those who have generously contributed towards the donation. Rest assured that it will be put to good use for the benefit of women who will be trained in making pastries,” said Ms Elizabeth.
