Africa-Press – Seychelles. ‘Take the time to reflect on your contributions to create and adapt to change at your workplace’
“Dear fellow workers,
“Labour day this year is being celebrated under the theme ‘A Transformative World of Work for an Inclusive Economy’. Indeed, it is a day to relish and celebrate our achievements and enjoy the fruits of our labour in spite of the economic difficulties. I seize this opportunity to recognise and salute all workers who continue to display resilience, devotion and daily sacrificesin their work, as the workplaces continue to be transformed during this pandemic. I speak for all workers especially the first responders, law enforcement, essential service providers and many support staff who in one way or another have done their best in their respective working organisations. We recognise and thank every single one of you and we are immeasurably grateful.
“Notably, dear fellow workers, it is also a time for reflection. A time to recognise and reflect on our current challenges amid the Covid pandemic and the future uncertainty of the world. We witnessed the whole world being shadowed by a pandemic and our beloved country is still recovering from its devastating impact. It wiggled into our economy, our communities, our homes and our workplaces. As a result, workers and businesses quickly adapted by introducing and promoting standards operating procedures to safeguard against transmission in the workplace and the community.
“I would like to call on all workers to take the time to reflect on your contributions to create and adapt to change at your workplace and to be engaged in transforming the world of work for an inclusive economy. I encourage you to become more active within your respective organisations. Keep the faith that things will get better, and continue to remind ourselves that only through hard work and dedication that we will succeed to make it happen.
“Economic recovery is in the best interest of workers and we need to support employers and businesses to return to full productivity. This is why this week we have coincided our Labour Day activities together with the Productivity awareness week in order to sensitise the whole population, ranging from principal secretaries and chief executive officers, head teachers, students and the youths, workers and employers, and to the general members of the public to adopt a positive mindset to transform the world of work and be part of the inclusive economy. Together we will achieve the growth that we all yearn for.
“On this note, I wish all workers and employers a very Happy Labour Day 2022.”
