Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>In its effort to re-look how to move forward with Corporate Social Responsibility, touching everyone in the community, Seychelles Breweries has launched a new foundation which will cater for local community projects.<\/b><\/p>\n

The new foundation, which will commit an initial sum of R2 million, allocated to support any community projects and initiative in the country, was officially launched yesterday by the company\u2019s managing director, Conor Neiland, during a special event held as part of the celebrations to commemorate the brewery\u2019 50th anniversary which is today (July 9).<\/p>\n

The event, held at the company\u2019s headquarters at Le Rocher, was attended by President Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, Vice-President Ahmed Afif, Designated Minister Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Ferrari, cabinet ministers, leader of government business in the National Assembly Bernard George, stakeholders, partners and staff.<\/p>\n

Addressing the guests, Mr Neiland shared a brief history of the well loved and appreciated drink in the country which was launched on September 10, 1972.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very passionate that we should curate and record the history of the brewery through the years. There are many stories and anecdotes about the memories that connect our brand to special moments in the lives of Seychellois,\u201d said Mr Neiland.<\/p>\n

He thanked all the workers, customers and partners over the years who have supported the company from the start.<\/p>\n

To recognise the achievement of the company over the 50 years, he announced that the board has approved to release a special dividend payment to their shareholders totalling an amount of R50 million.<\/p>\n

Mr Neiland spoke proudly of all the achievements and progress the company has made over the years, saying that Seychelles Breweries has never been stronger, and that he is looking forward to another 50 years of success in supporting all Seychellois.<\/p>\n

In his remarks President Ramkalawan congratulated Seychelles Breweries on its 50th anniversary, noting that Seychelles Breweries can be described as a responsible corporate citizen that pays all its taxes as required.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is part and parcel of the Seychelles culture, and the contribution the company makes to the country\u2019s economy is one that has seen us through the recent pandemic,\u201d added President Ramkalawan who also thanked the managing director for leading by example and empowering women within the company.<\/p>\n

Through a video message, chairman of the Seychelles Breweries Limited Anthony Smith addressed those present, after President Ramkalawan and Mr Neiland cut the commemorative cake.<\/p>\n

Also during yesterday\u2019s event, Edwin Palmer \u2013 the company\u2019s longest serving managing director \u2013 and Aubrey Lucas who was the company\u2019s first Seychellois managing director, unveiled a sculpture to commemorate the 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The event continued with entertainment from various local artists, including Mah\u00e9 Chamber Choir, Daniel, Joe Samy and Jean-Marc Volcy among others.<\/p>\n\r\n
