Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Bel Eau school recently organised a special assembly to celebrate fathers as an activity to commemorate Father\u2019s Day.
\n<\/b>
\nEarly on that particular morning, pupils of the school accompanied by their fathers gathered in the school\u2019s grounds around the head teacher Jane Laurette, their teachers and other members of staff of the school for the special assembly.<\/p>\n

The special MC for the event, to the delightful surprise of the pupils, was popular singer and radio DJ Chicco Martino.<\/p>\n

He welcomed the fathers to the school.<\/p>\n

After singing the national anthem, a group of fathers then gave a song performance which was followed by spiritual reflections led by Garry Woodcock and a few other fathers.<\/p>\n

Addressing everyone present for the occasion head teacher Laurette said the school wanted, through the activity, to put some emphasis on the appreciation of fathers and urged them to become more involved in the different aspects of their children\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore often we see mothers coming to the school.<\/p>\n

Fathers we want to let you know that you are greatly appreciated and that your support in your family is very important,\u201d said Ms Laurette.<\/p>\n

She went on to talk about the importance and impact a father\u2019s presence has in the lives of children.<\/p>\n

She regretted the fact that there are fathers who have abandoned their children and other family members for a variety of reasons and encouraged them to come back on their decision and come to visit their children at the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur message for those fathers is that it is never too late to change and come back to your children,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Ms Laurette\u2019s remarks were followed by poem recitals by some primary two pupils.<\/p>\n

Their poems highlighted their views on who a father is.<\/p>\n

This was followed by a presentation of different jobs by various fathers present which included a nurse, an accountant, a dancer and a fireman to name but a few.<\/p>\n

The pupils were excited to watch their father\u2019s presentation.<\/p>\n

The school choir then performed a song entitled \u2018Manman ek papa\u2019, and some pupils who are part of the Care Club read a pledge to engage their fellow pupils into swearing not to jeopardise their lives with the use of drugs.<\/p>\n

A final song performance \u2018Mersi Manman Mersi Papa\u2019 by the school choir was to express gratitude for the parents who are doing their best to raise their children properly.<\/p>\n

MC Chicco Martino granted the pupils a greatly demanded performance to end the celebration following which the fathers were invited to partake in drinks and snacks along with their children.<\/p>\n
