Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>SPA introduces golf cart and carriages to ease movement of luggage<\/b><\/p>\n

With the new mode of operation that has been in place at the Baie Ste Anne Jetty for a month now, the Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA), in collaboration with the ferry operators, has made available one golf cart and three carriages to facilitate movement of luggage to and from the jetty.<\/p>\n

Since the incident that occurred on June 30, 2022 where high tides caused certain physical damage to the jetty\u2019s structure at Baie Ste Anne Praslin, the SPA had imposed certain control on vehicular traffic coming in and out of the jetty in order to maintain the jetty as a safe place for all its users.<\/p>\n

All transport picking up or dropping off their clients remain at the parking area adjacent to the main gate.<\/p>\n

This new traffic measure has also helped to make the Baie Ste Anne jetty operate in a more efficient and smooth manner thus reducing congestion at the jetty.<\/p>\n

In order to facilitate movement of luggage and elderly passengers, including those with health issues, to and from the jetty, the SPA, in collaboration with the ferry operators, has made available one golf cart and three small carriages.<\/p>\n

Additionally, to ensure effective implementation of this new mode of operation at the jetty, the SPA organised a meeting with relevant partners and stakeholders to brief and discuss its launching. The meeting was held on Friday July 29, 2022 at the Baie Ste Anne district administration. It was attended by representatives of the ferry operators, destination management companies (DMCs), the Seychelles Land Transport Authority, taxi operators, DA\u2019s office, SMSA, as well as SPA staff working at the Baie Ste Anne jetty. The initiative was welcomed by everyone present.<\/p>\n

The chief executive of SPA, Sony Payet, pointed out that this forms part of a series of measures being undertaken by the authority so as to facilitate and improve the services being offered at the jetty.<\/p>\n

He stressed that all concerned actors should work in close collaboration to ensure effective implementation of the new ways of operation.<\/p>\n

Following the meeting, and upon Cat Cocos\u2019 arrival, everyone present witnessed the operation of the carriages and golf cart at the jetty as they transported their first clients and luggage.<\/p>\n

This service will operate as per the ferries\u2019 schedule at the Baie Ste Anne jetty.<\/p>\n\r\n
