Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Nineteen new recruits have joined the Seychelles Coast Guard (SCG) after taking their oath in a passing out ceremony on Friday.
\n<\/b>
\nThe group started out with 36 youths but only 19 managed to complete their basic training.<\/p>\n

The passing out ceremony took place at the SCG base at Ile Perseverance in the presence of guest of honour, Brigadier Michael Rosette, Chief of the Defence Forces.<\/p>\n

After the recruits had taken their oaths of allegiance, they were presented with the National Flags patch by Brigadier Rosette, accompanied by Major Didace Hoareau.<\/p>\n

The 19 new privates recited \u2018Kredo Solda Seselwa\u2019 and was then presented with their course certificates. The certificates were presented in one batch by Major Didace Hoareau to one of the new recruits, Private Roucou.<\/p>\n

Three awards were also presented during the ceremony \u2013 Best Outdoor Recruit, Best Academic Recruit and Best Performer Recruit.<\/p>\n

The Best Outdoor Recruit was awarded to SSP Ervin Petite. He was presented with his award by Colonel Michael Hollanda.<\/p>\n

The Best Academic Performer award went to SSPW Private Sylvie Tamboo and her award was presented by Colonel Simon Dine, the SDF\u2019s Chief of Staff.<\/p>\n

SSP Jean-Ive Mussard was awarded the Best Overall Performer award which was presented by the Brigadier Rosette.<\/p>\n

The Chief of Defence Forces stated that due to Covid-19 the training of the recruits was greatly affected and had to be adjusted, thus delaying the programme.<\/p>\n

He added that this is the first batch of soldiers for the year 2022 and through their training that started on April 11, 2022 they are now equipped with practical and academic skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have now been equipped to start their new journey as a soldier with the SDF,\u201d Brigadier Rosette said.<\/p>\n

He noted that \u201cthe training was not easy but this is the condition under which a soldier is prepared to face any eventualities\u201d.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony the new recruits also did a parade march both at the beginning and end of the event.<\/p>\n
