Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Two youngsters hailing from the Mont Fleuri district who were arrested earlier this month on drug-related charges have both been released on bail, after meeting the conditions imposed by the Supreme Court yesterday morning.
\n<\/b>
\nThe two suspects, a 19-year old unemployed male and another 20-year-old, were arrested separately on August 4 in a joint operation mounted by different units of the Seychelles Police Force.<\/p>\n

Both appeared before the Magistrates court the following day and were ordered to remain in remand custody for fourteen days, until their Supreme Court appearance yesterday.<\/p>\n

The first (19) is facing charges for allegedly being in possession of a controlled drug, namely, 0.50 grammes of methamphetamine, contrary to Section 9 (1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 2016.<\/p>\n

He was arrested at his Hermitage residence during the early hours of the morning.<\/p>\n

Justice David Esparon in considering the bail application ordered a cash bail bond of R25,000 as well as two sureties who are to sign a bail bond of R5000 each, conditions which had by yesterday afternoon been satisfied.<\/p>\n

In addition, the suspect is to remit to court his passport and travel documents, and is required to report to the Mont Fleuri police station weekly, every Friday before 6pm.<\/p>\n

As for the second suspect (20), he was allegedly found to be in possession of 100.31 grammes of heroin (diamorphine), with 60.18 grammes percentage purity, giving rise to the presumption that he had the intent to engage in drug trafficking.<\/p>\n

In light of the seriousness of the suspected offence and the fact that other potential suspects may be involved, Justice Esparon imposed a cash bail of R200,000 on the second suspect, in addition to two sureties who are to sign bail bonds amounting to R50,000 each.<\/p>\n

The suspect was also released on bail by yesterday afternoon, having satisfied the financial conditions.<\/p>\n

As they await their next court date on September 2, the suspect will have to abide by other bail conditions. He is to report to the Mont Fleuri police station every Monday and Friday between the hours of 7am and 6pm, and is not to interfere with witnesses and other potential suspects.<\/p>\n

As per a communique from the police, aside from drugs, the police also seized cash and \u2018drug utensils\u2019 during the operation.<\/p>\n
