Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Members of the board of directors of the Seychelles Bible Society yesterday afternoon paid a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House and took the opportunity to bring their various concerns to his attention.<\/b><\/p>\n

The executive secretary, Margaret Maillet, told members of the press after their talks with President Ramkalawan that they discussed first and foremost on having a location for the Bible Society.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur main concern is having a place of our own as at the moment we are renting out our offices and book shop,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The executive secretary stressed that they had previously asked for a site to be allocated to them to be able to build their own headquarters whereby they can house offices, book shop, conference room and other consultation rooms.<\/p>\n

Accompanying Mrs Maillet at State House were the chairperson of the Seychelles Bible Society board of directors, Eddy Payet, as well as other members namely Etienne Constance, Jonah Victoria Andriamalala, Diana Gerry, Bernice Senaratne and Norris Barra.<\/p>\n

The Seychelles Bible Society currently has two ongoing projects, the main one being translating the Bible into Creole and a community-based project.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur first and main project is translating the Bible into Creole, which has already been completed.<\/p>\n

However this is an ongoing project because we will have to review it in the future and that is another project in itself as there might be a few mistakes here and there,\u201d said Mrs Maillet.<\/p>\n

The community-based project is a trauma healing project for the youths.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project is to bring some sort of peace to the youth suffering from traumatic events such as bullying, domestic violence and others,\u201d said Mrs Maillet.<\/p>\n

The Seychelles Bible Society is currently collaborating with four different religious groups \u2013 the Catholic Church, the Anglican Church, the Seventh Day Adventist and Pentecostal Church.<\/p>\n
