Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority (SPGA) has announced that as from Thursday September 1, 2022 all marine parks will migrate to the mandatory use of its online ticketing system.
\n<\/b>
\nThis will apply across the board for Curieuse, St Anne, Port Launay, Baie Ternay and Ile Cocos.<\/p>\n

Similarly, fees for the BBQ facilities located on Curieuse Island must also be paid via the platform, prior to the visit.<\/p>\n

It is to be recalled that as of Monday August 1, 2022, the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority (SPGA) has started to implement the mandatory use of its online payment methods for entry tickets and mooring fees in the Curieuse Marine Park.<\/p>\n

After over a year in existence, the SPGA online ticketing platform, available via its website at www.spga.gov.sc\/tickets, allows individual visitors, as well as tour operators to purchase entry tickets at their own ease and comfort.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we continuously move into an increasingly digitalized world, SPGA bears no exception to this trend. The platform offers the authority increased control and monitoring of sales and transactions which take place within its mandated sites. A consequential relief has now been seen by SPGA, when it comes down to operational costs which would have been required, given the need for rangers and park officers to carry out banking transactions, travelling between the islands of Curieuse and Praslin. SPGA continues to optimise its revenue earnings as a financially autonomous entity, hence the need to revolutionise its way and ease of doing business,\u201d says a press release from the SPGA.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt can only be appreciated that during the first week of its implementation in the Curieuse Marine National Park, the total earnings from ticket sales and mooring fees saw a significant uproar, a statistic which has not been recorded since the existence of the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority. With continued appreciation and understanding of the online system, it can be determined that the new payment modality is here to stay, and will surely spill over to other sites managed by SPGA,\u201d adds the press release.<\/p>\n

On that note, SPGA has further taken on the initiative that as from Thursday September 1, 2022 all marine parks will migrate to the mandatory use of the online ticketing system, This will apply across the board for Curieuse, St Anne, Port Launay, Baie Ternay and Ile Cocos. Similarly, fees for the BBQ facilities located on Curieuse Island must also be paid via the platform, prior to the visit. With the success and efficiency of the system proving pivotal in the revenue growth of the authority, SPGA is therefore appealing to tour operators based on all the three islands \u2013 Mah\u00e9, Praslin and La Digue \u2013 to be more receptive to the innovations and technologies which the authority is coming forth with. Operators and tourism businesses like hotels, guesthouses and car rental companies are urged to encourage their clients and guests to purchase their entry tickets online prior to entering the Marine Park. Although Point of Sale (POS) machines remain available, operators and individuals are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets online. Licensed tour operators are urged to send an email to infospga@gov.sc with the following details entailed: valid e-mail address, contact number, business name and the corresponding liaison personnel.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is often misconstrued that not enough is being done to manage and upkeep the different protected areas and gardens of the Seychelles. Contrary to these remarks, much is being undertaken in the background by SPGA to ensure that the visitors to the different mandated sites experience the true beauty of our protected areas,\u201d adds the SPGA press release.<\/p>\n
