Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Some twenty civil society organisations are now better equipped to prepare project proposals in order to tap into available funding sources, having successfully completed a short training course during the week.
\n<\/b>
\nThe Citizen\u2019s Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps), the body for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Seychelles, organised the two-day capacity-building course in response to the concerns and needs of its fifty plus members facing difficulties in securing funding for their projects, from both national and international sources.<\/p>\n

Programme and Events manager at Ceps, Chantal Ellen, notes that project writing and management is crucial to civil society organisations if they are to achieve their objectives in contributing to the country\u2019s growth and development, primarily through attracting donor funded projects particularly in the environmental, social and health sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the past, we have had different sources of funding which are accessible to our members, both nationally and internationally. We have observed that despite the various sources of funding available to our NGOs, they are facing difficulties especially when it comes to their project proposals, with many being rejected. As such, we found it important as the platform to engage with our members, and to equip them through the training and facilitate the process for them to access funding to create the national impact that they hope to,\u201d Ms Ellen stated.<\/p>\n

Among the various sources of finance which they can tap into are the National Grants Fund (NGF), grants available under the Seychelles Climate Change and Adaptation Trust (SeyCCAT) and the recently launched Seybrew Foundation, among others. Other international sources are also available, and accessed primarily through the platform itself.<\/p>\n

Kenneth Nalletamby of People Experience Growth (PEG), one of the trainees, said he found the information provided throughout the session useful, and proposed that other NGOs should also have access to such training sessions, virtually.<\/p>\n

With the conclusion of the training, each participant was presented with a certificate during a brief ceremony held on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
