Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The Saint Mary\u2019s Chapel of the Anglican Diocese based at Anse des Genets has officially adopted the Pointe Larue home for the elderly.
\n<\/b>
\nThis took place in a short ceremony held yesterday at the Pointe Larue home.<\/p>\n

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Reverend Danny Elisabeth representing St Mary\u2019s Chapel and the principal secretary for the Family Department, Clive Roucou.<\/p>\n

PS Roucou noted that \u201cwe are moving in a new phase to sign the MoU that our ministry has placed a lot of emphasis on to work in collaboration with other businesses, departments and agencies. This is another step forward to join with the Anglican Diocese, St Mary\u2019s Chapel together with Reverend Danny to sign the MoU. We have done it at Grand Anse Praslin, Anse Boileau last week and this week we are doing it here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pointe Larue Home for the Elderly houses 14 elders, nine of whom are males and five females aged between 68 and 85 years.<\/p>\n

PS Roucou launched an appeal to others who wish to adopt one of the six homes left to approach the Family department.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe elderly are the people that have worked hard when they were young and dedicated themselves to our country and we, the younger generation, need to recognise the work that they have done,\u201d highlighted PS Roucou.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe signing of the MoU shows the engagement and collaboration between all partners and agencies involved,\u201d PS Roucou added.<\/p>\n

Reverend Elisabeth stated that the homes are not just for the elderly but also for everyone as everyone is interconnected, Seychelles being such a tight knit community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe eclipse the immediate family at home because we think of others,\u201d he said. Reverend Elisabeth advised the elders to share their knowledge and wisdom with the youth and pray for the upcoming generation.<\/p>\n

St Mary\u2019s Chapel decided to adopt the Pointe Larue Home for the Elderly as it had already been taking up activities at the home and Reverend Elisabeth noted that adopting the home is just a formality and \u201cofficialises the work relationship that they have with the residents\u201d.<\/p>\n

He further added that it is the parish that will help the residents and that in the past they have maintained some aspects of the place.<\/p>\n

Reverend Elisabeth was presented with a token of appreciation from Joseph Dodin, one of the residents of the home who had handcrafted the gift.<\/p>\n

St Mary\u2019s Chapel also showed its engagement towards the home by gifting the residents bookmarks that contain verses from parts of the bible relating to seniors, wisdom and respect.<\/p>\n

Present for the ceremony were proportionately elected LDS MNA Rosie Bistoquet and the district administrator Vesna Gertrude.<\/p>\n
