Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Seychelles has received a significant donation of anti-tuberculosis treatment from the government of India.<\/b><\/p>\n

The donation was handed over to the chief executive of the Health Care Agency, Dr Danny Louange, by Gautum Kumar Biswas, second secretary in the Indian high commission, in a short ceremony at the Seychelles Hospital on Friday last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government of India is very pleased to make this donation to the Ministry of Health and especially to the tuberculosis (TB) patients,\u201d Mr Biswas said.<\/p>\n

In his remarks to thank the government of India for the consignment, Dr Louange explained how the donation came about and what it will be used for.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese anti-tuberculosis medications are part of an order that was placed under a medicine grant from the government of India during the period 2017-2018. The medicines will be used especially in the treatment of multi-resistant tuberculosis,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

As the risk of patients developing multi-drug resistance to tuberculosis treatment is greater than ever before, the donation arrives at an opportune time for the Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n

Present at the donation ceremony were the deputy CEO of the Health Care Agency, Kathleen Cecile; director general for Public Health, Dr Meggy Louange; and staff of the Ministry of Health and of the Indian high commission in Seychelles.<\/p>\n
