{"id":1508,"date":"2022-01-19T21:19:04","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T21:19:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\/all-news\/seypec-chief-suspended-pending-investigation-into-sale-of-tanker"},"modified":"2022-01-19T22:00:08","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T22:00:08","slug":"seypec-chief-suspended-pending-investigation-into-sale-of-tanker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\/all-news\/seypec-chief-suspended-pending-investigation-into-sale-of-tanker","title":{"rendered":"Seypec chief suspended pending investigation into sale of tanker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister for Finance, Economic Planning and Trade Naadir Hassan has ordered an investigation into the procedure of the disposal and sale of one its tankers, the Seychelles Pride.<\/p>\n<p>The sale was concluded on January 12, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Seychelles Pride is owned by the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (Seypec).<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning &amp; Trade, the government as the main shareholder of the state-owned enterprise Seypec was not informed of the disposal and subsequent sale of the tanker.<\/p>\n<p>Pending the conclusion of the investigation, the chief executive of the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited, Conrad Benoiton, has been suspended.<\/p>\n<p>The minister has mandated the Public Enterprise Monitoring Commission (PEMC) to conduct the investigation, in accordance with Section 42(a) of the Public Enterprise Monitoring Commission Act, 2013, which states: \u2018The Responsible Minister may at any time, order an investigation into the affairs of a Public Enterprise as the Responsible Minister deems necessary\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Seypec falls under the responsibility of the Minister for Finance, Economic Planning and Trade.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation will be conducted in collaboration with the board of directors of Seypec.<\/p>\n<p>In the interim, on the recommendation of the board, Sarah Romain, the current general manager commercial at Seypec, has been appointed interim CEO.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\">Seychelles<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Seychelles.
