Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Local fish company Marlu Seychelles has donated more than 200kg of tuna to the nine elderly homes on Mahe\u0301, Praslin and La Digue.<\/b><\/p>\n

The handing over of fresh tuna loins took place last week in a short ceremony at Marlu’s head office in Orion Mall.<\/p>\n

Addressing the audience, Marlu’s customer services manager Yvonne Ernesta said this gesture is to show gratitude and give due appreciation to the contributions that the elderly people bring to society and the country.<\/p>\n

“This donation of 200kg of tuna worth R30,000 on the local market is just the first of many more similar gestures we anticipate with the elderly homes,” Ms Ernesta said.<\/p>\n

During the course of this week, Marlu Seychelles is making a series of donations to different institutions. This one comes a few days following the celebration of the International Day of Older persons.<\/p>\n

In her acceptance remarks, director general for the elderly and disabled division, Rosa Morin, commended the donors for their kind gesture which will go towards 115 elderly residents.<\/p>\n

She added that one of the division’s objectives is to encourage more private organisations to assist the elderly community by having their best interest.<\/p>\n

The residents of elderly homes are expected to throw on their aprons regularly and delve into some tuna recipes now that preliminary discussions have started towards inking an agreement for a long-term fish supply by Marlu Seychelles to the elderly homes.<\/p>\n
