Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, Wednesday October 19, in which a number of policy and legal memoranda were considered and approved.<\/b><\/p>\n

Cabinet approved the 2023 Appropriation Bill for a total sum of R10,495,149,665.00. The Bill will be published in the Official Gazette prior to discussion in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

Cabinet approved further policy amendments to the Public Enterprises Bill 2022. The new policy proposals aim to strengthen the oversight of Public Enterprises by the Public Enterprise Monitoring Commission (PEMC) to ensure a sustainable public enterprise sector and the creation of the shareholder’s wealth.<\/p>\n

Cabinet approved the new National Entrepreneurship Strategy. The Strategy is the result of the Investment Policy Review recommendation on the necessity to strengthen Seychelles\u2019 entrepreneurship ecosystem so that it may support the country\u2019s aspiration of becoming a knowledge-based and technology and innovation-driven economy.<\/p>\n

Cabinet also approved the introduction of the new codes for alcoholic beverages in metal containers (cans) and approval of the Harmonised System (HS) 2022 version. As per the Environment Protection (Environmental Levies on PET, Plastic and Glass Bottles and Cans) Regulations, 2020, glass bottles, PET bottles, Plastic bottles and Cans containing alcoholic beverages are subject to the payment of levy. Up to now, national codes have been created for metal containers for beers made from malt and for other fermented beverages. The new amendment will cater for other alcoholic beverages such as wines and cordials which are now being imported in containers made of metal (cans).<\/p>\n

Cabinet considered a number of designs of structures for the roundabouts of Bois de Rose, Ile Du Port, Airport and Roche Cai\u0308man. The designs came as a result of an invitation from the Ministry of Transport for artists, art students and other individuals to submit ideas and concept structures that may be placed in those vacant roundabouts. Cabinet advised that the designs be presented to the public for their comments and suggestions.<\/p>\n
