Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The thirty-seventh (37th) Kreol Festival, this important moment in the life of all Seychellois Creoles where we celebrate our Creole identity, was officially launched yesterday in a musical evening that took place at the International Conference Center (ICCS), Victoria.<\/b><\/p>\n

It was the secretary general of the National Institute for Culture, Heritage and Land, David Andre, who announced the 37th Creole entertainment and reflection event in the presence of the President of the Republic Wavel Ramkalawan and his wife, Linda Ramkalawan; Vice-President Ahmed Afif and his wife Stella Afif; Speaker of the National Assembly, Roger Mancienne; ministers; member of the National Assembly; o government officials; as well as members of the diplomatic corps, among other distinguished guests.<\/p>\n

The opening ceremony started with a presentation by the National Choir where they sang two songs, ‘Zwe sa namzik’ and ‘Ayo Pangar’ which was followed by the speech of Mr. Andre.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Mr. Andre pointed out that since we celebrate our leadership, this festival also allows us to be aware of our precious heritage, which we are, and what we need to do to continue to preserve it.<\/p>\n

“The preservation, transmission and promotion of our culture is the responsibility of all Seychellois, regardless of our origin, our political affiliation, or our religious beliefs,” Mr. Andre said, noting that our diversity is the collective force that unites us and makes us shine like this the light in this world that is sometimes troubled and confused.<\/p>\n

“For us, as a nation, let’s enrich ourselves with other cultures, but the fact that we leave other cultures becomes a hurricane that uproots what belongs to us,” he added.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that a lot has been accomplished and a lot of effort continues to be put in so that our people can live and value our culture and our Creoleness.<\/p>\n

He described to us the monument that has been registered by UNESCO as a world intangible heritage as one of the great achievements that the country has accomplished this year. It was the site of our participation in the Dubai 2020 expo and the recent Contemporary Art Biennale, as well as the great successes that have positioned Seychelles and artists as well as Seychelles in this international artistic landscape.<\/p>\n

“Let’s be aware and take advantage to use our culture, heritage and art as a force in the education of our children, the way we live, that we develop our social environment and address our challenges, that we develop our economy, peace, agriculture and that we public service so that we find sustainable and appropriate solutions to address our challenges,” Mr. Andre said.<\/p>\n

Mr. Andre thanked all those who have made and continue to make sincere and important contributions to the preservation of our identity as a Creole nation.<\/p>\n

After the speech of Mr. Andre, the center of Joe Samy was the center of Lim Festival Kreol – ‘The Creole season is reflected’ which was followed by the honoring of Marietta Matombe, John Wirtz, Marcel Crea and Jessie Freminot, four stars who have contributed to keep our culture alive and well he swallows<\/p>\n

It was President Ramkalawan who was honored to honor these four cultural stars with a trophy in the form of one of our traditional lamps that have been used for a long time.<\/p>\n

This trophy was made by artist and craftsman Alain Camille.<\/p>\n

Mr. Wirtz and Mrs. Freminot received their trophies personally while the late wife of Matonbe and son Mr. Crea received certificates.<\/p>\n

“I am very happy and very appreciative to receive this trophy when you think that I have done a lot for culture on the local and international scene,” said Mr. Wirtz to the Seychelles NATION newspaper.<\/p>\n

“I feel honored. At least they have recognized that I have made certain contributions to the country,” Mrs. Freminot said.<\/p>\n

The evening ended with a musical explosion called ‘LASAL VER’, the spectacle presented by Seysel at the Dubai Expo by the ‘ZEZ’ boat and 14 young dancers and dancers.<\/p>\n

This show ‘LASAL VER’ revolves around the feelings (such as romance) and the insides (such as camtole) among others that happen in a traditional wedding.<\/p>\n
