Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Eighteen students from the International School Seychelles (ISS) have achieved their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award.<\/b><\/p>\n

After completing their Skills, Physical, Service and Practice Adventurous Journey, the group undertook the most physically challenging section, the Adventurous Journey.<\/p>\n

Carrying all of their food, drink, bedding, clothing and other supplies, Day 1 (Friday October 21) saw them hike from ISS to Beau Vallon over La Gogue. The students celebrated by having a swim in the sea and then made use of the outdoor gym equipment.<\/p>\n

That evening they took part in team building activities and built a barbecue to cook their own food. They then bedded down for the night using the facilities at ISS.<\/p>\n

Day 2 (Saturday October 22) saw them hike a route to the Rochon Dam and back to ISS. One group rescued a puppy on the way and named her Duchess before later taking her to Pet Haven.<\/p>\n

The group were led by DofE assessors Neil, Sheina, Mr Middleton, Ms Kaiser and Ms McGeee from ISS.<\/p>\n

Mr Middleton, the DofE Coordinator at ISS said, \u201cThe group were once again a credit to the school. They have upheld the values of the DofE award throughout and have supported and encouraged each other over 2 days of tough hikes and activities. I hope they all now realise what they can achieve when they challenge themselves and take this into their exams, silver DofE award and their lives afterwards.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group will be presented with their awards at a ceremony in December.<\/p>\n
