Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>A new medical clinic, complete with pharmacy and laboratory, recently opened its doors at the KB Emporium building, Providence.<\/b><\/p>\n

The new facility, which is also equipped with an ambulance, is a project of the Shreeji Group, and hopes to cater to all.<\/p>\n

The clinic was officially opened last Friday evening but it will start welcoming members of the general public as from November 7, 2022.<\/p>\n

The official opening ceremony on Friday was attended by Minister for Health Peggy Vidot, Public Health Commissioner Jude Gedeon, chief executive of the Health Care Agency Danny Louange and chief executive of the National Aids Council Anne Gabriel.<\/p>\n

The facility boasts consultation rooms and a Sawa pharmacy on the ground floor of the building, with an ambulance bay just outside.<\/p>\n

According to cardiologist Kalpesh Hirani, the clinic\u2019s focus is on prevention of illnesses and diseases and not cure, hence why it offers various wellness packages as per different age groups, inclusive of different tests and screenings and consultations for early detection of risks and diseases.<\/p>\n

The packages include the Basic Wellness packages, The Men Wellness 50+, Woman\u2019s Wellness, Cardiac Wellness, Diabetic Wellness, Diabetic Wellness+, Smokers Wellness, Post Covid Wellness, Teen\u2019s Wellness and Vitamin Wellness.<\/p>\n

The clinic is also offering local patients an overseas package through which they can access specialist services in India, for services and treatments which are lacking in Seychelles.<\/p>\n

Going the extra mile to ensure that the whole community has access to quality health care, Kalpani health professionals can conduct home visits, and workplace visits, for consultations and certain types of treatment.<\/p>\n

In a bid to educate the population about the prevention of common chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiovascular problems, the clinic will soon be launching a nationwide education and awareness campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are planning to have Creole language labels on our medication, as it is important that the older generations are able to understand what they are taking.<\/p>\n

We are also looking into combined medications so that one doesn\u2019t have to be taking up to ten or twelve medicines at one time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThirdly, as has been suggested by many people to me, is to have medications which are plant-based, or in other words, Ayurveda medications,\u201d Dr Hirani noted.<\/p>\n

The clinic presently has two nursing staff, a laboratory technician, as well as pharmacist and pharmaceutical technician.<\/p>\n

A second doctor will be arriving soon, in addition to Dr Hirani.<\/p>\n

The Group is already planning and working towards a multi-specialist facility in Anse Aux Pins in the coming months.<\/p>\n
