Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Members of the Seychelles International Financial Services Association along with representatives of the Financial Services Authority on Friday took part in the Seychelles Business Studies Academy recruitment fair at Anse Royale with the aim of demystifying the financial services sector.<\/b><\/p>\n

Abacus (Seychelles) Limited showcased a brief video which covered the role of various players namely the banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions. Career options in the industry and opportunities for career progression were explored.<\/p>\n

Mr Lopez of First Island Trust, an ex-Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA) student briefed the students on his first year in the industry. He said he enjoyed his year and recommended the sector as a career choice.<\/p>\n

Michelle Poponneau told her story from an SBSA student to a director and shareholder of ACT Offshore Limited, the first corporate service provider. We are sure that with good laws and a vision for the industry, her success can be replicated by many other Seychellois and ex-SBSA students.<\/p>\n

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) represented by its senior management Lisa Lautoy, Paul Robert and Calvin Soubana, explained the role of the regulator and the workings of their respective departments.<\/p>\n

Through an exciting te\u0302te a\u0300 te\u0302te, it was explained that both the industry and the FSA have a common goal \u2013 to grow while being compliant.<\/p>\n

Neil Puresh, MD of Vistra (Seychelles) Limited, shared his story of growth in the industry and explained the role and importance of a company secretary.<\/p>\n

Chantal Marie, an HR consultant across a few industries, wrapped up the session with a brief comparison of the financial services sector to other industries.<\/p>\n

Three members of the Seychelles International Financial Services Association (SIFSA); ACT (Offshore) Limited, Abacus (Seychelles) Limited and Intercontinental Trust (Seychelles) Limited sponsored lunch for the students.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank the SBSA for organising the event. We thank all the participants from the FSA and the SIFSA for taking the time to come and make the presentations to the students who are the future of our country. The participants also interacted with students after the sessions.<\/p>\n

We do hope that it provided the youth a better understanding of the financial services sector. We also look forward to more participation from other members of financial services sector.<\/p>\n
