In a press release dated Friday November 11, 2022, Absa Bank Seychelles wrote that \u201con the evening of Thursday November 10, our monitoring and detecting system alerted us to discrepancies on some of our customer accounts and we have taken immediate steps to safeguard our customers\u2019 accounts from any additional exposure\u201d.<\/p>\n

The press release added that the bank would like to reassure its customers that the situation is getting its full attention and it currently has a team of highly specialised individuals working to address the issue as fast as possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is unfortunate that this has happened, but it is also a reality that exists today. Individuals will constantly find ways of conducting these activities and we are asking all our customers and the public to continuously be on the look-out for suspicious activity and to please be vigilant as to the quality of the websites they are using their cards on,\u201d said Nazim Mahmood, managing director of Absa Bank (Seychelles) Limited.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are remaining in close communication with our customers who have been affected but are still advising our customers to be on the look-out for any non-authorised activity on their accounts and to contact us as soon as possible via our Call Centre on 4 38 39 39 should they notice anything suspicious,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Additionally, if an Absa client suspects that his\/her Absa card may be compromised, kindly call 4 38 39 73 for debit card or 4 22 59 00 for credit card and the bank will do the necessary to block any further transactions on the card and the person may visit his\/her nearest branch to be issued a replacement card at no cost.<\/p>\n

Customers can also block their own card via our Absa Mobile Banking App or through our Absa Online Banking Platform if they have already registered.<\/p>\n

We would like to reiterate that our customers are our priority and we assure you that the matter is being treated with the utmost care and importance.<\/p>\n
