{"id":18833,"date":"2022-11-18T15:04:39","date_gmt":"2022-11-18T15:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\/all-news\/enlarged-bois-de-rose-road-fully-functional"},"modified":"2022-11-18T15:25:48","modified_gmt":"2022-11-18T15:25:48","slug":"enlarged-bois-de-rose-road-fully-functional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\/all-news\/enlarged-bois-de-rose-road-fully-functional","title":{"rendered":"Enlarged Bois de Rose road fully functional"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span><b>The enlarged Bois de Rose road is now fully operational since the last two weeks and motorists have seen a huge difference while commuting to and from work every day.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The cost for the construction of this new road including civil work, asphalting and road marking is R9 million.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Simara, engineer at the Seychelles Land Transport Agency (SLTA), explained that the additional lanes constructed were in fact completed in October but they had a delay with the road surfacing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe project started in May and the aim was to remove the bottle neck caused by traffic coming from Ste The\u0301re\u0300se road and the two lanes from Roche Cai\u0308man. There was a long queue and if ever there was an accident it was worse. Now, we have enlarged the existing bridge and converted the one-lane road to a two-lane road with a footpath and also a layby for motorists dropping off their child at the International School,\u201d said Mr Simara.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that since traffic has been flowing as it was expected and at least one lane keeps flowing if ever there is a blockage.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Simara also shared that the Plaisance road project is going well and right now they are doing the resurfacing of the road from Roche Cai\u0308man to Le Rocher.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, motorists may have also seen construction work at the Mont Fleuri junction near the Seychelles Institute for Teacher Education (SITE).<\/p>\n<p>Leeroy Raguin, project manager at SLTA, explained that \u201cthe reason why we constructed the roundabout is that there was a safety hazard for pedestrians and motorists. It will also help reduce traffic in that area and the project will cost around R1.2 million. Work started in mid-September and will be completed in February 2023.
