Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Preliminary work has begun to relaunch an association for fathers, a platform that will represent a voice for all fathers as well as men in Seychelles.<\/b><\/p>\n

A group of men from different districts got together yesterday morning at the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs who are pushing for the establishment of this association.<\/p>\n

for discussions and deliberations regarding the formal establishment of this group.<\/p>\n

This meeting was organized to coincide with the International Men’s Day, which this year is being observed under the national theme of ‘Celebrating Seychellois Men’.<\/p>\n

During last year’s meeting, the principal secretary for Local Government and Community Affairs, Kevin Perrine, strongly said that men and such a group have the potential to make a big difference in the community and society.<\/p>\n

“The connection that we are anticipating to see in the association between the men will go down in the society. We do not want a man or young boy to feel that he is being left behind, and we anticipate that they will use their peers to get help and advice when they deserve it,” Mr. Perrine said.<\/p>\n

To ensure that this grouping is effective and fulfills its objectives, the ministry will work with other relevant agencies such as the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to educate young men to take responsibility and act in an exemplary way, to make a difference and help other men , so that men take their true place in society.<\/p>\n

Mr. Perrine also encouraged men to stay connected with their feelings, and not to be afraid to express their bodies.<\/p>\n

On his part, Mr. Charles Zialor, a father and citizen who is passionate about such causes, pointed out that such a group is important especially at this time when many fathers have signs of discouragement on their faces due to different life circumstances.<\/p>\n

“We know that challenges are everywhere, and so in reforming the father’s association, we are not targeting just all fathers, but fathers in general,” Mr. Zialor said.<\/p>\n

“In our society today we need more male models, so today we are calling for professional and experienced men to come forward to help in terms of education, social, spiritual and career,” Mr. Zialor said.<\/p>\n

This association is also targeting young men to help and prepare them so that they become the exemplary men that the community, society and country need.<\/p>\n

Mr. Zialor added that they are counting on the support of the ministry and other organizations to respond to the support of fathers who have fallen and are facing challenges in their lives, and also to support the association to make a difference in the lives of all fathers. strong families, and the benefits of society in general.<\/p>\n

The Ministry is receiving the support of the Department of the Family, as well as the platform for civil society of Seychelles (Ceps) in this process.<\/p>\n
