Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>As part of national initiatives to support the transition towards a digital economy and the Central Bank\u2019s agenda of propelling financial inclusion, Absa Bank Seychelles successfully hosted their first financial education session targeting individuals aged 63 and above.<\/b><\/p>\n

The session took place recently at the Roche Caiman district administration and is in line with ongoing nationwide financial awareness initiatives.<\/p>\n

The educational session provided tips on how older individuals can go about managing a budget and keeping their finances secure as well as providing awareness on products and services to help customers transact more easily and at their convenience.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinancial education is a journey and we believe that retirees shouldn\u2019t be left behind,\u201d said managing director, Nazim Mahmood, while speaking about the initiative.<\/p>\n

Head of marketing and corporate relations at Absa Seychelles, Amanda Bernstein, said financial literacy is important in driving financial inclusion within communities, especially the more vulnerable groups, and equips individuals with knowledge and skills needed to manage personal finances effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis activity was significant for us and is a major part of our pillars of Citizenship within the organisation,\u201d she said in her opening speech at the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really important for us to have a conversation with this community to better understand their needs and what they expect from us as a responsible financial institution. We are confident that this session was useful for the participants, allowing them to bank with confidence in a safe and convenient manner,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n

During the three-hour session, over 30 individuals were instructed on the benefits of Absa cards, ATM machines, our Absa Mobile Banking App and Internet Banking Platform as well as how to navigate and make the most of these products and services. Emphasis was also put on the importance of using strong passwords as well as safeguarding and protection of their passwords.<\/p>\n

Participants also learned about different types of fraud that may impact them and how to identify fraudulent emails or attempted fraud attacks when transacting online.<\/p>\n
