{"id":20250,"date":"2022-12-07T14:28:25","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T14:28:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\/all-news\/president-ramkalawan-to-attend-oacps-summit-in-angola-and-the-us-africa-summit-in-washington-dc"},"modified":"2022-12-07T14:28:25","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T14:28:25","slug":"president-ramkalawan-to-attend-oacps-summit-in-angola-and-the-us-africa-summit-in-washington-dc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\/all-news\/president-ramkalawan-to-attend-oacps-summit-in-angola-and-the-us-africa-summit-in-washington-dc","title":{"rendered":"President Ramkalawan to attend OACPS Summit in Angola and the US-Africa Summit in Washington DC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span><b>The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan will attend OACPS Summit in Angola and the US-Africa Summit in Washington DC.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), in collaboration with the Government of Angola will host the 10th Summit of OACPS Heads of State and Government in Luanda, from 6-10 December 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The Summit of OACPS Heads of State and Government is the supreme organ of the Organisation and defines the OACPS\u2019 general policy orientation.<\/p>\n<p>Themed, \u201c3 Continents, 3 Oceans, 1 Common Destiny: Building a resilient and sustainable OACPS\u201d, the 10th Summit marks the first live meeting of OACPS Heads of State since the coming-into-force of the revised Georgetown Agreement in April 2020, the change in leadership at the Secretariat and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>From Angola, President Ramkalawan will proceed to Washington, DC at the invitation of the President of the United States, Mr Joe Biden who will be hosting leaders from across the African continent in for the U.S.-Africa Leaders\u2019 Summit from December 13-15, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The Summit demonstrates the United States\u2019 enduring commitment to Africa, and will underscore the importance of U.S-Africa relations and increased cooperation on shared global priorities.<\/p>\n<p>President Ramkalawan will also engage in various side meetings addressing pertinent topics relevant to Seychelles, Small Island Developing States and the African continent.<\/p>\n<p>The President will depart the country of 7th December and will be back in the country on 19th December 2022.<\/p>\n<p>During President Ramkalawan\u2019s absence from the country, his duties and responsibilities will be discharged by Vice-President Ahmed Afif.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/seychelles\">Seychelles<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Seychelles.
