Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Last week, Anse Royale saw the launch of ‘Lar Rwayal’, an initiative of local artist Danilo Albert, with the support of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs through its Animators’ Scheme.<\/b><\/p>\n

Held in the delightful setting of the Kafe Kreol beach restaurant of the Lai\u0308la Resort, the official launch of \u2018Lar Rwayal\u2019 was graced by the presence of the Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs, Rose-Marie Hoareau; principal secretary for Local Government and Community Affairs, Kevin Perine; general manager of the Lai\u0308la Resort, Jason Marques; Anse Royale district administrator Pamela Henriette; representatives from the SNYC; teachers and pupils of Anse Royale.<\/p>\n

\u2018Lar Rwayal\u2019 is a programme aiming to empower young aspiring and talented artists aged between 8-11 years, to hone their creative skills. The classes expect to kick off in the upcoming April school holiday and will continue as both an after-school and holiday programme.<\/p>\n

Under the guidance of Mr Albert, aided by fellow artists and experts in their industry, the project will focus on training and mentoring these children’s artistic abilities.<\/p>\n

His atelier at Les Canelles will be the location for teaching the youngsters how to craft, paint, practice fashion design, textile design and more.<\/p>\n

In his address PS Perine praised Mr Albert for his initiative and determination to give back to the community, despite his disability.<\/p>\n

The PS addressed the importance of inclusivity and how this project speaks for the ministry’s beliefs in citizen empowerment and opportunity for growth.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Lar Rwayal\u2019 is a positive and encouraging venture for the community, giving promising young talents an opportunity to explore and develop their creative abilities, and have an encouraging role model in Mr Albert,\u201d PS Perine stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt stands as an outlet for younger generations to build on their artistic acumen, learning how to mould and shape their skills and experiences into their own unique works of art.\u201d<\/p>\n

The project will also allow Mr Albert to give back not only to the young generations, but to the country and beyond, as he hopefully creates successful, powerful, and independent artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cParents are important elements of this programme \u2013 we will need their support and of course they will remain updated on their children\u2019s progress. Aside from the Ministry of Local Government, we are also looking to gain the support of other partners such as the Ministry of Education,\u201d Mr Albert said in an interview with the press.<\/p>\n

As a small gesture to further assist \u2018Lar Rwayal\u2019, Minister Hoareau presented Mr Albert with some art supplies and chairs that would be used at the atelier.<\/p>\n

The event was punctuated with a song performed by students of the Seychelles Institute of Art and Design (SIAD) and a traditional dance by four Anse Royale secondary school students.<\/p>\n

Ezrah Morel, 11, from Anse Royale primary, noted that she is excited to join the classes in April as she loves art and has many artworks on canvas at home already.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to learn more and grow into a better artist,\u201d the enthusiastic pupil added.<\/p>\n

\u2018Lar Rwayal\u2019 is a great way for students to explore their creativity and members of the community are invited to contribute to the project.<\/p>\n

An exhibition will be held at a later point to showcase the artworks made by the young pupils of \u2018Lar Rwayal\u2019.<\/p>\n
