Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Earlier this week, Travizory collaborated with the department of Science, Innovation, and Technology (DSTI) to provide local students with a unique and exciting opportunity.<\/b><\/p>\n

The activity was aimed at giving students insight into how a technology company operates and a chance to experience life at one of the few IT startups in the country.<\/p>\n

Travizory aims to inspire students to consider a career in the tech sector while also giving them first-hand knowledge of the technology that is making the Seychelles\u2019 borders more secure.<\/p>\n

This activity is the first of its kind for Travizory and marks the beginning of a series of initiatives planned for the year.<\/p>\n

The activity took place at the Seychelles Bureau of Standards House in Providence, near the Travizory offices.<\/p>\n

Through presentations and interactive activities run by Travizory staff, the students learned about the innovative technology that has enabled the Seychelles to digitise its borders and become the first country in Africa with biometric technology.<\/p>\n

The students had the opportunity to get to know the Seychellois-led Travizory team, learn about their work, and participate in hands-on activities to experience the technology in action.<\/p>\n

Travizory is committed to providing opportunities for young Seychellois to develop their skills in the digital space. By equipping the next generation with the right tools and knowledge, Travizory is playing its role in securing Seychelles\u2019 future in an increasingly digital world.<\/p>\n

Tom Marten, managing director for Travizory Seychelles, said: \u201cAt Travizory, we are proud to lead initiatives like this one, as we recognise the need to enrich the communities in which we operate. I am especially excited about what the students will take from this activity, and hope it was a valuable opportunity for these young minds to learn about technology in a fun and interactive way. We chose to work with the Division of Science, Innovation, and Technology (DSTI) as it is the institution molding the future of tech in the Seychelles, which includes our future employees.\u201d<\/p>\n

Commenting on the initiative, a spokesperson for DSTI said: \u201cIn the world we live today, we cannot do without technology. At the rate at which technologies are moving, if we are not careful, we may be left behind. However, it is important to note that technological innovation does not happen without Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. We welcome Travizory’s initiative for STEM activities for school students. The participating students gained knowledge about the Seychelles border control platform, the facial recognition system, and got the chance to experience the portal setup of the biocorridor. It was a very informative activity for the students. DSTI would like to express our appreciation to Travizory for successfully delivering the activity, and our gratitude goes to secondary schools and the Seychelles Bureau of Standards (SBS) for their support.\u201d<\/p>\n
