Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The Department of Information Communication Technology (DICT) has officially obtained its ISO certificate as well as team members who have completed their ISO 27001:2013 training.<\/b><\/p>\n

The ceremony was held at the UniSey auditorium yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The first team are Certified Lead Implementers and they play a key role in the implementation of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) within DICT. The lead implementers were presented with a certificate by Andy Ally, the chief executive of the Seychelles Bureau of Standards (SBS).<\/p>\n

The first team who received their certificates comprise Darrel Ho Pong, Hansel Esparon, Kevin Marie, Rodney Vangadasamy, Rosalind Denis and Yannick Alphonse.<\/p>\n

Mr Marie and Mr Vangadasamy received the certificates on behalf of the team.<\/p>\n

A small group of the DICT staff completed the ISO 2700:2013 Lead Implementer training and also completed the ISO 27001:2013 Lead Auditor training. The Lead Auditor Training requires more advanced knowledge of the Standard certificate Lead Auditors. In addition to implementing the ISMS, they also conducted audits to ensure DICT\u2019s compliance to the standards.<\/p>\n

C.R Pandian, Ronny Nourrice, Sebastien Laure, Deepak Babu and Beryl Payet were all presented with their certificates.<\/p>\n

Ms Payet unveiled the organisation\u2019s official ISO 27001:2013 certificate which was certified in November 2022.<\/p>\n

In a presentation on how the ISO will benefit DICT, Ms Payet explained that it gives the organisation a competitive advantage, increases trust among stakeholders and increases the organisation\u2019s resilience to cyber-attacks. Furthermore, the organisation can protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its data and ensure the operations of the organisation runs more smoothly.<\/p>\n

ISO provides guidance for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an ISMS.<\/p>\n

In a keynote speech delivered by the principal secretary for DICT, Benjamin Choppy, on behalf of Vice-President Ahmed Afif, who was absent, he stated that the DICT\u2019s move to achieve the 27001 certificate is driven by National Cybersecurity Strategy of 2019-2023. As a result, DICT is the first government institution in Seychelles to become ISO certified. \u201cThis shows DICT\u2019s commitment to ensuring the security and data and information that it holds and processes for its current and future clients,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

With this certificate the MDA clients of DICT should have a good level of confidence and comfort that the security of their information assets are in good hands.<\/p>\n
