Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>Two years on from his first visit to Seychelles, Owen Sheers is back to collaborate with the A-Level students who are studying his work for the CAIE syllabus at the International School Seychelles (ISS).<\/p>\n

His trip part-sponsored by the British High Commission, Sheers has collaborated with all A-Level Literature students on the island. A screening of his critically acclaimed climate-change drama, The Trick, has been done while he is on the island at the British High Commission residence.<\/p>\n

Sheers\u2019 last visit to ISS was in February 2020, just weeks before the Coronavirus saw the country and the world entirely transformed. This first visit was a huge success and gave our A-Level students an unprecedented insight into the creative process of the poet, playwright, novelist and screen-writer.<\/p>\n

Sheers\u2019 visit is being coordinated by ISS\u2019 deputy head of secondary, Phil Brown. \u201cIt was such a pleasure to work with Sheers in the halcyon pre-Covid start of 2020. I\u2019m excited with him being back and able to engage with A-Level students across Mah\u00e9. In many ways it feels like the first optimistic glimmer of a return to the life we knew before the pandemic. I\u2019m also really excited to talk with Owen about his recent work on climate change. It was clearly a huge passion of his when he was here last \u2013 but now it has become the unavoidable topic we must all face head on. I\u2019m so happy that this is something we can bring to young people in Seychelles. We are all also incredibly grateful to the High Commission for helping to bring him over here so that he can engage with young people across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
