Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>A survey on the commercialisation of erotic products was launched yesterday by the trade department within the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Trade.<\/p>\n

Rennick Charlette, senior trade officer, stated that the reason for the survey is to garner public opinion and perception regarding this sensitive subject. The survey which has already been launched for a week has had a total of 473 participants. It will continue until the end of March and is available to the public via the ministry\u2019s website http:\/\/www.finance.gov.sc\/news\/487\/Online-survey-on-the-commercialization-of-erotic-productsand social media platforms.<\/p>\n

The subject which has gained popular attention has sparked various debates resulting in the trade division initiating the survey. Currently the importation and personal use of erotic products is not illegal, however the commercialisation or selling of the products is still illegal under the 2014 amendment on the regulation of customs management.<\/p>\n

Mr Charlette conveyed that for the moment the survey is to gather public opinion and the outcome of the survey will give the department an idea of how to move forward and consult with other governmental bodies, departments and organisations.<\/p>\n

He stressed that there is a great deal to work on following the survey with regard to regulations, consultations and maybe even sensitisation.<\/p>\n

The survey on the commercialisation of erotic products which entail selling products such as sex toys, erotic lingerie, safe sex products, erotic games and gifts, and pornographic films and magazines, contains only 12 questions. It takes a maximum of 10 minutes to complete the survey.<\/p>\n

Mr Charlette said the survey is completely anonymous and does not identify gender (male, female and other). The questions are mostly yes or no, strongly agree or disagree and your views on the matter.<\/p>\n
