A large crowd turned up at the Stad Linite compound, Roche Caiman, on Saturday to participate in a festival of fun and music organised by Cable & Wireless (Seychelles) to mark its 130 years\u2019 existence, since its creation on November 11, 1893.<\/p>\n

The large crowd visited the over 100 stalls scattered around the stadium\u2019s compound and engaged with businesses, organisations and individuals, including the local media, which were showcasing and selling their products and services.<\/p>\n

Children who accompanied their parents were not forgotten for the occasion as there were various fun activities and gaming competitions organised specially for them.<\/p>\n

The main highlight of the festival was the live musical concert which featured popular artists such as Sandra, Jahkim, Patrick Victor, Jean Marc Volcy, Julia, Mercenary, Molo, Elijah, Tania and Auspitious, Daniel, Philippe Toussaint and Travis, among many others, who are part of the telecommunication company\u2019s cable tune programme.<\/p>\n

The event culminated with a dazzling and colourful display of fireworks, to the surprise and delight of the cheering crowd.<\/p>\n

The musical concert ended at around 11pm.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the chief executive of CWS, Georges D\u2019Offay, said that the turnout for the festival was beyond expectation and a great success.<\/p>\n

He stated they were very proud to be the first company in the country to have been able to celebrate 130 years of service to the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did not reach this milestone alone. We did it along with the Seychellois people. If it was not for the people, including our workers, we would not have achieved it. For this I would like to take the opportunity to thank the people of Seychelles and the staff of Cable and wireless, past and present, to make Cable and Wireless what it is today, 130 years in the country,\u201d said Mr D\u2019Offay who noted that the telecommunication company will continue with its vision to make available the best of communication technologies and high standard of service to the country.<\/p>\n
