Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The accreditation of Ambassador Claude Morel to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation<\/b><\/p>\n

The new Seychelles Ambassador to the sister Republic of Madagascar, Mr. Claude Morel, presented his credentials to the President of Madagascar, Mr. Andry Rajoelina, on Wednesday August 2, 2023, during a ceremony at the presidential palace in Antananarivo, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Yvette Sylla.<\/p>\n

The discussions that followed after the ceremony focused on various areas of common interest.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the Seychelles and Madagascar are starting discussions aimed at signing a Framework Cooperation Agreement which would, among other things, strengthen relations between the two countries in the political, economic, commercial and cultural fields. Maritime safety was also mentioned.<\/p>\n

A memorandum of understanding for cooperation in matters of peace, security, and the maintenance of order at sea will be signed shortly, thus allowing the two countries to combine their efforts in the mutual fight against drug trafficking and illegal fishing. . A fishing agreement allowing the sustainable exploitation of fishery resources is also being studied by the two parties.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Morel also met, among others, with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Andre\u0301 Resampa, on various aspects concerning the preparation of the next Games of the Islands of the Indian Ocean, and the reception arrangements planned for the Seychelles contingent.<\/p>\n

Note that Ambassador Morel was accompanied by the Honorary Consul General, Mr. Sylvain de Comarmond.<\/p>\n
