Africa-Press – Seychelles. <\/strong><\/span>The National Assembly yesterday adopted two separate reports related to the Final document of the Truth, Reconciliation and National Unity Commission (TRNUC) which were presented by Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) and United Seychelles (US).<\/b><\/p>\n

The two reports will now be presented to the executive for consideration.<\/p>\n

The majority report titled \u2018The Report on the National Assembly deliberations on the process and recommendations of the commission TRNUC\u2019, was approved by 22 LDS members, zero against and 9 US members abstained from voting.<\/p>\n

The minority report titled \u2018Position of the United Seychelles opposition on the proposed National Assembly report arising from the debate on the TRNUC report and recommendations\u2019 was approved by 9 US members, zero against and 22 LDS members who abstained from voting.<\/p>\n

The two separate reports followed three days of debate in the National Assembly last week, on the contents of the Final Report of the former Truth, Reconciliation and National Unity Commission (TRNUC), along with its 47 recommendations, to prevent future human rights violations.<\/p>\n

To adopt the two reports, the Assembly had to suspend Standing Orders 30 and 87, through a motion, to prevent further deliberation on them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have taken the responsibility under the Standing Order 101 that gives the Speaker the authority to guide any business of the National Assembly that is not covered under the Standing Orders and I have proceeded to put the report on the order paper today,\u201d said Hon. Speaker Roger Mancienne.<\/p>\n

The adoption of the two reports concluded the work of the National Assembly yesterday and the institution which is on recess, will resume on September 11, 2023.<\/p>\n
